While The Big Lebowski technically took place in the early 1990's, the Coens themselves indicated that it was a play on 1930's detective noir. It also featured a protagonist that was most definitely stuck in some past. Based on that reasoning and the fact that the movie is hilarious, it was only natural that I include it in dream Coen comedy set.
But that's just, like, my opinion, man.
